GlobalGAP for Fruit & Vegetables

GLOBALGAP for Fruit and Vegetables was developed by the Euro-Retailer Produce Working Group (Eurep) to promote Good Agricultural Practice in the fresh produce industry. This standard is now accepted globally and consequently the name was changed from EUREPGAP to GLOBALGAP in 2007 to reflect this status. Version 4 of this scheme is now in operation and will soon be followed by Version 5 (compulsory from 1 July 2016. Most global retailers now require all suppliers to be certified to GLOBALGAP. This standard is also required by local retailers in South Africa and several other countries.

Tesco Nurture

Tesco Nurture (previously known as Tesco Nature's Choice) is a standard required of all producers supplying Tesco with fresh fruit, vegetable and salad products. It makes sure that best agricultural practices are applied in the production of the produce.

Certification depends on growers demonstrating that their produce is grown and handled in a manner which meets regulatory requirements, protects the environment and is safe plus meeting the high expectation of Tesco customers. The scheme belongs to Tesco plc and is limited exclusively to producers who supply products to Tesco UK.

A minimum requirement for Certification Bodies and approved auditors is accreditation to GLOBALG.A.P. Approved third party certification auditors have all received training from qualified and experienced NSF personnel

LEAF Marque

LEAF – Linking Environment And Farming was established to promote a better public understanding of agriculture. It achieves this through the LEAF Marque scheme. Following LEAF farming principles brings benefits to wildlife, reduces the risk of pollution and helps demonstrate the production of safe, high quality, environment-friendly food. This is why many retailers and food processing companies are keen to do business with LEAF Farmers. Today, food carrying the LEAF Marque logo is available in an increasing number of retail outlets, providing a clear indicator of high environmental standards in food production.

Leaf Marque enables you to differentiate your products in the market place and helps to secure your market. Importantly it also, when used in conjunction with promotional material, gives you the recognition of your high environmental standards.

Genesis GAP Produce

Genesis operates throughout the world in both established and developing regions, giving producers, processors and manufacturers access to trade in their local markets and the international markets. Genesis began life in the UK as an expert alternative to the UK Red tractor farm standards. Genesis has a long heritage of standards development and operation, first as an independent operator in the UK market and subsequently following acquisition by NSF, with a combined experience of 100 years of developing and operating accredited and non-accredited standards in the US, European, Asian, African and Latin American markets.

Genesis GAP for Produce is developed as an entry-level standard for fruit and vegetable producers. It is a sensible starting point to prepare for GFSI benchmarked standards like GLOBALG.A.P. for Fruit and Vegetables

Genesis GAP Chicken

Certification to the Genesis GAP Chicken Production Standard is a fundamental requirement of all leading poultry marketing groups, primary processors, further processors and retailers. Developed by this industry, the Standard is designed to assess the ability of poultry producers, transporters and processors to comply with food safety and traceability requirements, animal welfare standards and to demonstrate due diligence.

The Genesis GAP Chicken Production Standard is being developed for broiler and egg producing farmers in South Africa.

Albert Heijn

The Albert Heijn protocol lays down the contracting requirements to guarantee full application of the legislation in UE-MRL for fresh produce. Since fresh produce comes from production zones anywhere in the world, Albert Heijn has established a protocol, apart from GLOBALG.A.P, to monitor the levels of residues at source - the producers and packaging stations of suppliers. The Albert Heijn protocol enables the levels of residues allowed in fresh produce to be guaranteed, providing added value and security in the products to be exported. The audit is usually done in combination with GLOBALG.A.P.

McCain GAP

McCain has established an agreed set of standards which have been based on the GLOBALG.A.P. programme and has been named “McCain GAP”. The principle behind McCain GAP is that it is the minimum standard that all regions are required to implement in their agricultural supply chain.

McCain GAP is envisaged to be of particular use in regions where an alternative programme is not already established or a supplier is not already implementing one of the alternative schemes.
