The British Ornamental Plant Producers' Certification Scheme (BOPP) has been designed for use by growers and packers of ornamental horticultural products and by growing media producers. The Scheme aims to set high standards of professionalism in the way in which certificated businesses operate and through unbiased and effective evaluation by NSF, to ensure that these standards are maintained. The ultimate objective is to ensure that customers can have complete confidence in both product and service when dealing with BOPP Certificated suppliers.
The GLOBALG.A.P. Standard for the production of Flowers & Ornamentals covers propagation material, soil and substrate management, fertilizer use, plant protection product, harvesting as well as post-harvest treatments.
The Standard covers the criteria: site history and management, record keeping and internal self-assessment/ internal inspection, worker health, safety and welfare, subcontractors and service providers on the farm, waste and pollution management, recycling and re-use, environment and conservation, complaints management, product traceability and segregation, propagation material, soil management, fertilizer application, irrigation/fertigation, integrated pest management, use and storage of plant propagation materials, equipment maintenance, soil and substrate management, hygiene and security measures during harvest and post-harvest treatments.
